Dash Install

Post by 1977ChiefLS3 »

Does anyone know the correct product for the black 'goo' on segments of the windshield frame to dash mounting?

Is that just 3M seam sealer in strips? Non-hardening weather strip? ImageImage

I was planning on using this:https://www.eastwood.com/ew-flexible-st ... 2-lbs.html

or an equivalent 3m product.

I have not taken a dash out, but in my experience everywhere Jeep mated two sheet metal parts together, they put butyl strip caulk between. No squeaks or rattles! You can buy the stuff specific to cars, but AFAIK it's no different from Mortite or such that you can buy at the home center.

I used the above product, indeed it stays flexible after many, many years, it is a sticky modeling clay, you can make a small ball for fill area that are a bit too large, and it is paintable.

Thanks for the input. I've got some of the 3M seam sealer in stick form and appears to be essentially what all of you used.
