Speedometer Cable Woes, Cant Find Correct One

Post by jkchubbes »

My speedometer cable on my 76 Wagon frayed and broke now I'm having a hell of a time finding a replacement. The previous owner installed Howell TBI and looks like he used a cruise control module to route the cable. The current cable is approx 27in, the one I ordered is 90+in and anything I find online to replace is at least 10in too long. What cable should I be looking for? Part number? Thanks for the help.

if outer housing is ok and you just need inner cable, just buy a universal cable and cut to length then crimp on the end (crimper comes with cable kit), if you need the complete assembly most speedometer shops can make one, the place I have used in the past is Commercial Speedometer in West Sacramento,Ca.

All you have to do is bypass the cruise module if your not intending to use it.

The new cable you have is for a Wagoneer WITHOUT cruise.

I just replaced mine with ATP #y-803 works perfectly just no need for cruise control in a jeep anyway.
