Any recent a/c installs - parts list?

Post by Xplitive »

1989 - York equipped. Not digging hot and humid weather, looking at getting the air conditioner operational. Found a big leak on the converted r12 to r134 York.

-Would like to switch to a Sanden unless it’s too much of a PITA and a whole lot more $$.

Search didn’t reveal much on parts list.

First, eBay bracket - any problems with York to Sanden conversion brackets?

This is what I’m eyeballing:
Compressor: Sanden 4643
Drier: rock auto cheapie for vehicle
Binary switch?

Thank you

Anything else?

I just got a Sanden from Ry Compressors in Florida and a drier from Rock Auto. From what I have learned, r134a does NOT quite cool like the r12 does. It is cheaper and you can refill it yourself with kits from Walmart. R134 has a bit more pressure than the R12 but iuf you have a good sealed system it seems to work okay. I got the compressor for 124$...the drier for 8 bucks and got the whole system fixed up for 174$. RY compressors seems a good place to shop but make SURE you know the part you need specifically.

This was my recent experience.. :)

Thank you - 1 compressor and drier coming up then.

Just got the York removed. Man, the bastard that designed the mount must have been really proud of their work. Swapping to the Sanden with an adapter bracket will make any future repair way more enjoyable.
Already have a new radiator and the water pump must be newer by someone’s application of yellow paint on it.

Water pump is dripping along the gasket, not going to risk assembling without replacing the gasket this far into it.

I made sure I specified a Sanden 709 for mine and they finally got the right one to me. Double check fittings and your vin number to be sure. It will save time and headaches :)
