It's weird it would die if it was disconnected. Take a volt meter to the battery and see if you have 12 or so volts.

Does anything work? Interior lights, brake lights?

No no headlights no nothing

And I lost my meter in the move

And I took loom off of the wiring on the passenger fender where it connects to the solenoid and it’s not fried
I think that’s where the fusible link is

Next easy step is to 'jump start' it. If it won't jump start, do the lights come on? If they don't it's not the battery.

Take the battery to your local Napa (and likely other parts stores) and ask them to test it.

This is the diagram of the battery circuits. http://oljeep.com/gw/elec/86/86_FSJ_Wir ... age2-1.gif
You have 4 fusible links, 3 smaller green ones and 1 larger yellow one. They all connect to the starter solenoid. Very clear. Go to the store and buy a cheap meter - does not need to be fancy. Check continuity of the links.

Seems unlikely they would all go at once. My first guess is bad battery. They can go suddenly.

Took it to NAPA and it was dead so I bought a new one and now it starts and does every thing it’s supposed to. And I got a new meter so I can verify that the gauge isn’t lying to me
All the gauges in my waggy work which was a total shock when I was first looking at it

So now I figured out that the door jamb switch on the driver door for the interior lights is not working but I removed the bulb. And this morning I had a weak battery, it would turn the motor for about 30 seconds.
And yesterday I had my meter and was able to check that the alternator is working.

So any ideas on where I can find the jamb switch

Standard DS267 is the correct part number. The one that shows up in the parts stores computer has too small of threads for the hole in the body.

I had indications of weak starts and slow battery drain over time after not driving the car for a few days. It got so bad, I had to put a charger on it at night so it would start in the morning. New battery did not fix the problem. It turned out to be corrosion in the original battery cables. the corrosion was not visible as it was in the wire where the battery connections are molded over the wire ends. Replacing the cables fixed the problem.
