how to remove shifter indicator 1976 j-10

how do you remove the shifter indicator that sits on top of steering column
on a 1976 j-10 truck ?

any advice will be helpful.

there is a screw on the left side of the bezel, then a little tug to lift it up,

oooops sorry, the 86 and later have the screw, so for your vintage it is a little tug on the left, then on the right

There's a metal pressure piece that sits on the back driver side that needs to be slid out, then you pull up. You shouldn't have to tug or pry anything if you get the pin out. Not a pin, but a bent piece of flat metal.
