Wheels, bolt patern and offset.

I am planning on running 35" x 12.5" x 15" Tires.

Its time to start shopping for wheels.

What bolt pattern and offset should I be looking for?
I will be running a 6" lift from BJ's.

Do you recommend a wheel?

The Cherokee runs a 6 on 5.5" bolt pattern. It's a standard that's used on a ton of vehicles so they're easy to find.

I would recommend a 15" wheel that's between 8 and 10 inches wide. I'm running an 8" wide wheel with 35's on my J-10 and they fit great. They have a 4.5" back spacing and I get no rubbing on any springs when I turn.

Steel wheels are inexpensive and they can be bent back straight if you knock them out of round where aluminum can't. But no matter how good the paint or powder coating is on them, they all tend to rust.

Aluminum wheels are lighter and there's a lot more to choose from. There's a bunch of different styles with a bunch of different finishes to choose from. Costs per wheel vary tremendously depending on the style and finish.

I bought American Racing AR23 wheels for my truck. They're not really expensive and they're a 5 spoke design that I like on trucks of my vintage. You can get them with the 6 on 5.5" bolt pattern in 15x8 and 15x10 for just a hair over $100 each at Summit Racing: http://www.summitracing.com/search/whee ... ing%20ar23

I like these wheels quite a bit. If I had it to do over again I'd probably have gotten these. White wagon wheel style, vintag-ey looking.

They will both fit fine. The one with the 3.75" back spacing will stick out more.

Will they stick out far enough to cause a problem, like slinging dirt ?

Hard to say for 100% certain.

Mine are pretty close to the fender's edge. Then again, I'm running J20 axles with the 16x8/4.5" back spacing wheel and 315/75R16 tires. The flares are similar between the truck and the Cherokee but I'm not sure if the axles are exactly the same width.

For reference, this is what mine looks like:

You can see a little mud coming up off the tire and hitting the rocker panel. And I only have 4" of lift. You can also see where it threw a bunch of little mud chunks that landed everywhere.

Big tires sling a lot of mud when you're in it, especially as you turn and expose more of the face of the tire outside the fender.

Front axle is same width. J10 rear is wider than Cherokee.
