Vintage radio for older jeeps. Modernized radio that still has that vintage look?

Post by 62Thriftside »

I was wondering if there are radios like that? Or even a modern radio that will fit in the space made for the vintage radios. Thanks

Google is your friend. :- )

Props to you for not wanting to cut up an old dash! Although I admit I did that once... But that was before these rigs were going for stupid money on eBay!! LOL!

Here is one: http://a.co/eocbTm5

There are tons of two post radios out there, plenty with modern input features even. I'm running a cheap one I got off ebay years ago with RCA inputs on it. I'll definitely be looking for something a little higher quality and with bluetooth next time.

Thank you guys! And yeah cutting into jeeps and ruining that classic look is not exactly the greatest thing but hey, you learned from your mistake so it's all good.

PO cut the dash to fit a crappy head unit. Cut and ground some steel to make a new facia for the Retrosounds Laguna radio. All the features of a "basic" head unit with the classic look. Image

That looks very similar to the cheap radio I got on ebay years ago, albeit a little updated. Mine only has RCA inputs, no iPod hookup. Mine works alright. The buttons are pretty cheap, otherwise it makes sound.

Have one of these in the 77. It is OK but not sure I would buy another.

I'm in the same boat. I'm not cutting up my dash. The only 2 I've seen that have the vintage look are the Retro Manufacturing and the one from vintage vibes posted above. I think the buttons and jeep logo look better on the vintage vibes one. Are there any others out there?

I just installed a Retro Manufacturing radio in my 79 J20! Very nice, easy install and good sound quality, has many features including Bluetooth! Does not have CD option, but hey the new car radios don't have that option anymore either!!! LOL! I would recommend to anyone who does NOT want to cut up their dash!!!

Don't bother with this one. PO had put one of these in the cherokee and its expensive junk. The knobs were already broken on it. I disassembled it to see if it was fixable but it was not. I would have had to get new knob assembly's.
