Clocking ring for 4L60/NP241

Post by 243 »

Hey guys, the transmission will be together and likely bolted onto the engine by the end of the weekend. I will also bolt the NP241 in place and work on the transmission mount and crossmember.

Since I have not moved the body onto the frame and this is a passenger side to driver side swap on a '78 body, would it be cheap insurance to install a clocking ring?

You will need the clocking ring otherwise your drive shaft would have to go through the crossmember (if you are using the factory fsj one). I bought one off ebay and used the middle set of holes. Make sure you seal up all the holes you are not using...otherwise it will leak (don't ask how I know). I used Permatex "The Right Stuff" the second time around and no paper gaskets.

Thanks for the tip to seal the spare holes.
