The spider gears are toast in the D44 rear of my 79 J-10:
Turns out it has a Trac-Loc LSD in it (I think it's a trac loc anyway) there is a version of the Powertrax No-Slip that will drop into a trac loc carrier. They are a bit more expensive...about 400 bux is the cheapest I've been able to find...but I wont have to re-set up the gears.
BTDT (with the broken gears). That is indeed a TracLock and the spider gears are a common failure in these. When the spider gear failed in my CJ-5 with a TracLock, a piece of it went through the cover.
Note that typical failures of TracLocks are the spider gears, or a broken case (carrier). Just FYI. they are not known for being sturdy or durable (ie they are not aggressive and the plates wear out fairly fast).

You could also repair the TracLock - I expect those gears are available from Randy's and other places. https://www.randysworldwide.com/ They also have a tech tip on assembling the TracLock somewhere on their site. I would add - the TracLock is not terrible when the clutches are new. It's very well-mannered on the street. Does not handle impact load well though. If you don't hammer it, it will last pretty well.

Ah, I had not seen they made one specifically for the trac-lock carrier. That would make this a much simpler thing to deal with than replacing the carrier.
Right...that's what I was thinking...simpler to just pull the spider gears and put the Powertrax No-Slip in. I looked into a rebuild kit for the Trac-Loc, including the spider/side gears and they seem to be more than the Powertrax No-Slip.
