I started this thread on the Jeep Forum and one of the members recommended joining this forum as it is geared more to the FSJ. I'm not a mechanic, far from it so feel free to correct me if I interpret something incorrectly.
This Wagoneer's story (in the making)......
For years now my wife has been telling me that she has always wanted a GW. And I always responded with a sense of sarcasm and disbelief. A few months ago I started reading a forum and researching this car and one day ~ 3 weeks ago I let my wife know that she was going to be a jeep owner. I purchased a 1989 GW after extensive conversations from a guy in Washington. The GW is black with tan interior and has 77,xxx miles.
The car was received last week by Novak where it will have a full engine, power train, etc, etc conversion for the next 4-6 weeks before shipment down to Texas.
Here's a list of the conversion work that Novak will perform:
Kryoflow HD Radiator
New Fan Kit
GM 4L60E Transmission I&S
Transmission Cooler
NP 231 Transfer Case
Slip yoke eliminator kit
GM 5.3L L33 (NEW)
GM Gen III V8 accessor pkg (starter, alternator, power steering pump, AC pump, belts, wiring harness, etc)
PCM Programming/Mods
Headers
Exhaust system
Cold air intake kit
Fuel pump system
Shifter kit
Driveshafts
Engine bay clean up work - filling, repairing holes from old equipment, blasting and painting (repainting to Dover Gray Metallic)
And here's a picture of her Wagoneer
Once I get her back I'd like to recover the seats and dash.

"After years of being paranoid about my Jeep’s temp going towards that 220F mark, I’m realizing that if it was real problem, Jeep engineers would have painted that area RED." - FSJ Guy
Out with the old and in with the new. Here are a few pics of the engine bay after old holes were patched, cleaned up and new paint job - Dover grey metallic. Firewall penetrations made getting ready to install new engine.
