Re: 77 Wagoneer 6.0

It's been a couple weeks since I last worked on the jeep. Had fun at ECI but it's not the same without your own jeep.

I'm 99% of the way done with the wiring... Until my ECI deadline wasn't met. Currently I have 3.73 gears in the axles and that's fine for the th400. What's not fine (for me) is a 205 transfer case with a low of 1.96. Since it's street legal, putting 4.10+ gears would hinder my cruise speed. So I decide I'm going to go 4l80e for the OD and future lower axle gears.

This wknd I completed most of the wiring including the dozen tranny wires. I ran the fuel pump and sensor wires. All that's left is to hook up the 4l80e wires to the tranny. I'll be shopping for a tranny in the next couple weeks. Probably a ~97ish tranny since the price is a little lower.

Need to still fab up a battery location. Probably the passenger fender.

Going gambling vacation next wknd then it's 4th July. I better make our Fall Club ride in october!

My suggestion since you have the superduty axles 60 front, and sterling rear. Scrap the 4l80 idea and go to a 6L80 instead. Most of the gm trucks that run the six speed come with 373 gears. I have done a couple of LS swaps with the 6 speed, and the scout I did we regeared from 4.10's down to 3.73's with a Np241 t-case 2.72 low range. You will not hurt you low crawl speed, or your highway fuel economy. just my suggestion. love the build.

It's too much to go that way. Price, new ECM, repin, and the ECM to control the 6 speed is for a 58x reluctor ring engine. My engine is 24.

Got the battery box made and set the battery. Finished wiring the battery to the fuse box and alternator. Did some other misc wiring and was time to test some stuff. Since I rewired the stock fuse box to the new one I was eager to test the circuits. I left the ECM unplugged for now and tested the lights, turn signals, brakes, hazards, etc. everything worked perfect.

Next I need to read the tune from the ECM and reprogram a couple things. Before I crank it I'll put the scanner on it and check the sensors. It's real close to firing it up.

Here are some pics of the relocated battery.

I kinda neglected this thread. Done a bunch of little things. Basically it's done with some minor stuff to finish.

Got the drive shafts yesterday and finished the shocks....

Got to drive it out the garage on ots own power. Have a couple things to do tomorrow and I'll take it for a road test. Still need to log some data and tune the engine.

I drove it Sunday and didn't like the converter I had in it. It was a 2600 9.5" stall. In fact it sucked.
I dropped the tranny Monday and put a 2000 stall 12" in. Finished get everything back together tonight. Haven't drove it yet but did start it and go through the gears in the garage. It seems like it will be much better.

Nice when someone bumps an old thread I haven't seen. Or don't remember.

Looking forward to going through it.
