Cool--I like the tall-skinny tires. Dude--dont you know! You never ever look for rust on these things because your going to find it! Then you have to decide: do I pretend that its not there and continue with the plan or try and fix it and push the project into Never Ever Land. Where the project never gets finished and your wife makes you sell it for a fraction of what it cost ya!!!
Got the dash reassembled. Went with a gloss finish this time around. I had to resort to the 82+ dash pad due to availability. It was originally tan but I used some vinyl dye to take care of that.
Outside the truck:
Got it in...gave it another quick coat w a vinyl dye spray can (same color):
Also picked up a NIB OEM Ramsey winch mount brush guard. Now I just need to find an old school Ramsey Winch to go on it:
Up next:
Finish interior
Install windshield
Start working on cab dents for paint prep
Not sure if anyone reads this anymore, but I've got another update...and this one is a doozy. Got my carb tuned so the truck was able to drive home. Since getting it road worth I put 150 miles on it in two days! It feels great to be able to drive it around again.
Wet sanding, dissected...ready to go in the booth.
Inside getting painted:
Fresh out:
Got my bumper and NIB Ramsey winch mount brush guard installed:
Top half of rollbar test fit, bed back on:
Up next:
Finish trim on cab
Finish interior
Prep bed for paint
Rhino line bed/roll bar/brush guard
1980 Cherokee wrangled & mangled
MSD complete system
Eddy intake
Holley 650
Comp cam 270H
4" Rusty's
Ramsey 12K winch

Built to drive not sit in the garage.
No longer strangled. I didn't build it for anyone else.
If you can't improve it why waste your time?
Haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I'd like to. Been busy at work and moving. We finally got around to starting the bodywork on the bed. Drivers side is 90% done and back is completed. Up next is the passenger side (much worse than drivers side), tailgate and getting the bed sandblasted and bedlined. The body lines are a PITA to rebuild!
I got the rollbar and bedrail covers mounted. It was going to be way too much work to straighten the rails underneath and then bedline it and have to worry about the bondo underneath failing.
I also picked up a badlands 12k winch and some cheapo fog lights for the front and painted the grille and light buckets black again (along with the mirrors). I had to remove a crossbar to fit it, but I'm pretty excited to finally get a winch. And yes that's another rest bumper...this one is the full steel. Haven't decided in black or silver powder coat yet.
1989 Grand Wagoneer, Mostly stock, rebuilt 360 (now 300 hp). The work continues... Knoxville, TN.
I've always loved these things! What have I done? http://www.chadsparks.net/2013/02/a-wagoneer.html
Well, I've come across some bad news. My engine either needs a complete rebuild or I need to find a donor truck with a running engine to swap in. I don't really want a v8, so I'll know for sure what I'm dealing with next week when I can get the head off. The part that sucks is the truck has been at my place and not at jeepj10's where we can weld and do body work while its not driveable. Hopefully I'll have an update soon with some good news. Seems like you take two steps forward and one step back.
I found an engine this week...its a rebuild with 3 miles on it. Got it in the cheap too, which is awesome. The price is classified though! Anyway, as part of the trade I am losing my roll bar. I am taking it to a fab shop this week to have a replica made out of 2" pipe.
I felt bad for the old girl sitting for so long so I went and washed it after removing the roll bar. Hopefully I'll have the new engine in before the end of October and I'll be able to get back to work on the bed and touching up some spots on the cab. Stay tuned...
In the mean time, my DD Jetta TDI has been my make-shift pickup. Ugh, I need my truck back!
I know this question is a bit late but do you have a door rebuild thread? I am stuck on a dilemma with all of the metal pieces to mate the door windows to the regulator so my windows that are currently held up with wood blocks can be usable again. Or were you able to re-use your inner door pieces? All I can find are handles, regulators and panels. The stuff the stores don't seem to have is what the previous owner broke.
