CFSJA on Mosquito Pass

Post by shimniok »

Sat, Aug 29, 2015, a handful of the Colorado FSJers ran Mosquito Pass, the highest pass in North America at 13,185'.

It also happens to be one of the prettiest trails in Colorado with impressive mountainscapes and beautiful alpine tundra. All the rain earlier in summer rewarded us with wildflowers even into late August.

The way up is mostly rocky dirt road turning into rocky road with a few big rocks and flexy spots. Even our stock-height rigs made it through, thanks to some fine driving skills.

Image

In total we had four FSJs, and two baby Jeeps. (Mine not among them; reverse went out on the tranny the night before). The trip was not without incident; we had some overheating, leaking/steaming coolant, loose starter early on, but the rigs settled in and got us up and over. Great to see CFSJA and our old Jeeps back on the trails again.

Hopefully some of the other folks will post up their pics, too.

Bummed I missed the trip but happy to see the pictures. We need to get the CO Jeeps together more often!
