Moab Easter Jeep Safari 2017 - Day 1 Photo Recap

Post by Quadratec »

Not only was this my first time in Moab, it was the first time traveling further west than Nashville, TN. What an incredible spot Moab is! Here are some of my photos from what was the hardest (and most fun) week of work in my life. Not really FSJ's, but still great rigs!:

Day: Sunday, April 9th
Trail: Hell's Revenge
Rides: RIPP Superchargers, Rockstar Garage, Quadratec, Pathkiller (JKU with XJ front clip), among others.

Do regular jeeps go to this or are they pretty much all billboards now?

Lol!
This event used to be just a big gathering of Jeep folks. Somewhere along the line it seems the folks who had booths to ply their wares expanded vastly and now... Well, I'd venture that soon the event will be more like an off-road showcase of SEMA with a few regular jeepers having booths to watch the parade of mega dollar rigs roll by.

Most of the rigs I saw were $60,000-$200,000 rigs and had decals/stickers all over them. This was my first Moab visit so I have nothing much to compare it to. As I post more photos you'll see some basic, nicely modified rigs on the less extreme trails.

Flint, thanks for posting FSJ's! I honestly did not see many there, at least on the trail rides I was on.

Quadratec, we all know that promoting your brand is the primary reason you're there and I don't think anyone here is going to fault you for that. We all love action shots and quite a few of us have newer jeeps in addition to our old iron, so keep the pics coming (and be on the look-out for FSJs!) :-bd

I still love Henderon's XJ/JK mash up. He really did a nice job molding them together.

And yeah, VERY FEW FSJ's at EJS. Its an expensive trip to make for most of us, and even more expensive if we have to tow our FSJ. I know I would not take mine there unless I was really wanting a Roadkill style adventure.

Plenty of more average Jeeps go. You just don't see nearly as many photos of them.

EDIT: For the record, I am fine with non-FSJ content in this area, or the general Jeeps area of the forum. I know the title says FSJ, but if its a trail ride that you are personally on, I am not going to get angry at you for posting photos of your own personal trip.

Moab Easter is on my bucket list. I went to Moab back in late 90's in my then-stockish YJ. Just roamed around, saw lots of nice rigs and beautiful country. I didn't venture too far afield as i was unsure of the trails and my own capability..and i was alone while hitting most of the parks in southern Utah.
I stopped to help a guy that was having issues. By the time we got him going, I think he had spare parts from 3 other rigs that stopped to assist.. Love that about the true Jeep community!
One day I will wake up and realize that my jeep is complete...one day, I just know it.

When I was in High School (late 90s) I used to drive out there from Grand Junction in my K5. I'd just park at Lionsback or Potato Salad Hill with a cooler full of soda and sammiches; just watching was worth the trip!

I was there that year! But I was a tween, and riding shotgun in my uncles CJ-5 on Poison Spider when that happened! :o

I wish I could be there now. Haven't been out since 2013. That is too long! :fsj:

I have seen this one in Moab on 3 different occasions. They do show up. My preference is to go a week or two after EJS and get most the trails to a small group of FSJs. Either way, it is beautiful country and open space for this type of Jeep fun.
