I called the KOA to see if I could bump my reservation up one day, however there is someone arriving Sunday morning the 15th and leaving Monday the 16th for Site 47E, which my reservation starts on Monday. Question is, is this 1-day reservation anyone here? Or is it someone un-related to the FSJ group? Was hoping to get there for the Monday morning breakfast fiasco!

Do they have any sites open? You would have to 'move' but I have seen you folks pack up pretty quick. I can help with the move.

Yeah, if they just have it for a night it probably isn't this group.

got it all squared away with the KOA. They said the person didn't have a site preference so the graciously moved to the other. So I've got Site 47E starting Sunday. We are coming a day early so we will be there for the early bird breakfast! Woo Hoo!

That's awesome! Every day in Ouray is like a day in heaven. We will do the annual Monday Moring red mountain run too!

It's after the tech inspection. We will provide the magnetic 'trail leader' badges after completion of the run.

Local Fire Update

Post by fulsizjeep »

We are in the monsoon cycle today!!! :-bd

Burned area closures have been changed today. Durango Narrow Gauge Railroad reopened. We now have access to Kennebec Pass and The Colorado Trail in the La Plata Mountains. There is still an open Fire Ban. This seems normal for every year just before the FSJ Invasion in 3rd week of July. Fire bans could lift next week if the rains stick with us, which is forecast the next 2 weeks.

Some decent info on fires here:

Thanks for the updates flint!
Always seemed weird to me that the bans include places like the KOA. I am bringing my portable propane fire pit so we can still roast marshmallows...

I ""might"" be able to drive out there, and sleep in my XJ.

I should have plenty of room on my site if needed.

Have you seen Cherokee Jim start a camp fire with a gasoline fire ball? That's why. ;)

Once we knew he did not set himself or the KOA on fire, it was funny.

Man, these next three days are gonna be murder! I don't know how I'm gonna get through work before I hit the road Wednesday! Already have everything staged in the garage. My wife has a meeting with a client and the EPA scheduled to run until 3pm on Wednesday, but I hope to have everything packed and the engine running as soon as it's over!

OK!

New water pump is in my Cherokee, and I just have to hook up my stereo, and get a spare tire in the morning.
We will be driving through the night from Wrightwood, CA,
So Wed should be in?
Hope Scarlett will be good on the way, and not need anymore parts thrown at her other than petrol. :fsj:
