It's not easy to be optimistic when we can see the wildfires from our house. I'll do my best to stand down. ;) Meanwhile, Invasion in 5 weeks...

A keeper buddy of mine was saying that blackbear was closed. Can anyone confirm or dispell that?

I just saw an announcement that they're temporarily closing it just tomorrow for rock fall mitigation work.

But nothing fire related? That's good to know. I'll pass that along as my buddy (like you. *Envy*) is going out soon to get some dirty tires. Image

As long as the KOA is open I will still enjoy my only real vacation of the year. It's always good to see my Ouray friends. I am sure there will be some trails open, maybe a bit further away, but even if they are not, I will have fun. I'll do more stuff in town. Head down to Silverton. Perhaps spend a day in telluride. Do some of the mine tours. I can spend more time preparing and cooking dinner. I can hang out more at the KOA. Maybe spend some time with the other HAM radio guys. :)

Hopefully someone brings an alternative since it's unlikely the joy of a real campfire will be allowed..

I told him to call the KOA since they would probably have an idea. If not, contacting the parks Service should work.
Even though I'm not coming, I know lots of folks look forward to running Blackbear. I will one day... I hope.

My grill I'm bringing for the pot luck is propane so we should be good with it.

I also saw this on another forum. Hopefully the four corners will get the relief they need.

We got hit pretty good last night with a thundershower and hail. Went outside a few minutes ago and there seems to be another storm coming. A few random raindrops already. Now if it'll just push over the mountains and head West a bit...

Colorado already has enough impact from buds.
1977 Cherokee S, Ford 5.0, 5 speed, BW 1356, 33 x 10.50 BFG's. No longer my DD.
2007 Mercury Milan, 2.3L, 5-speed, now my DD. 29 mpg average.

I need to keep up with site better. Sarah, the boys and I will be there. We have a house in town we are staying in. But we will be around for sure.
Priorities
1. God
2. Wife ( Sarah )
3. Children ( Lane & Dirk )
4. Work
5. Jeep

Man it is hard to keep them in the right order!

Unfortunately, we weren't able to work out a way for Amy and Violet to join the fun this time, so it will just be boring old me :)
