Exhaust popping after Sniper And linkage install

Post by gotdirt »

Sooooo I recently installed the Sniper EFI on my fresh 360 and to help with the power management I added a progressive fixed linkage. I followed directions and adjusted the secondary % on the lcd screen to 41 which is when I saw the secondaries open. Now I have a popping sound like a small backfire which sounds like it’s in the mufflers. I have shifted the secondary % in different directions with no change. Any ideas, otherwise it’s removing the linkage and back to stock?

Thanks

Does the popping happen on deceleration? If so, you are running lean. The secondaries won't have an impact on this. The ECU *should* learn to be a bit richer, but may also require some tuning.

And going off previous EFI installs here, do you have a stock/MSD distributer or an HEI?

Also, what is the gap on your spark plugs? Maybe double-check the timing?

Gents thanks for the info. I will check my plug gap as I have and OCD issue with changing them frequently. Timing is spot on. The popping is occurring at idle right after start up. One thing Stuka said has triggered a lapse in memory. Since I just installed the linkage and adjusted settings I haven’t allowed it to get up to temp to allow the learn process to start again. I will do that tonight and see if it helps. Thanks and I’ll update if it worked.

Any update on your issue? Just ordered a progressive linkage for mine as well. Seems pretty straightforward on the install and changes. Hopefully yours cleaned itself up after getting up to temp.
