How big of a tire would be needed for true flotation in snow?

Post by Nikkormat »

I've been trying to research this but have found any real answers.

How big of a tire would be needed to float a 6klb Jeep on top of deep snow at 5psi? 38x14.50? 42x14.50? Bigger?

When I mean flotation I mean tire like this:Image

For true flotation, tracks (like Matt tracks).

The tires shown above work well for harder pack/frozen snow. You still want to avoid deep powder.

The tires shown above are Dick Cepeck FC II in a 19.5x44-15 size.

These guys run really big tires and lots of horsepower to run in snow.
