This sounds great. Would you mind sharing the total cost when all is said and done Ross? When my budget 401 starts to show its budget side I'd like to have SJ do it up right.

My motor is here! Took just a hair under 3 weeks from the time it left my shop until the time it showed back up. To be exact, it took 13 business days. They originally told me 15 business days. So, I was excited when it came in early. They were very good about sending tracking numbers. Here are some pics of how it came in and what was in the box. Once I get it out of the crate and on the stand I will post more pics. So, far it looks really nice.

Image

The motor came with all the gaskets needed to reassemble the motor. The small box is everything needed to rebuild the oil pump. Also in the paper work was a test sheet showing tested oil pressure and tested compression.

Image

They also included 5 qrts of break in motor oil. That was a nice surprise. In the paper work they dedicate a whole page to letting you know that you need to run Zinc additive or synthetic oil in you engine or plan on rounding a lobe on you camshaft.

Image

And finally here is the peice I have been waiting for, the engine itself. You can see the new roller rockers through the plastic.

Nice! those look like comp cams Magnum roller rockers. I love mine. While I did a few other tune up things when I installed mine on my 304 there was a noticeable seat-of-the-pants difference. I can't tell from the pic but did they use guide plates or were the heads slotted already?

Just an 'FYI', that's not a collapsed lifter. That's what happens when the cam goes flat. It eats the lobe off and concaves the lifter. A collapsed lifter would be one where the plunger stick in the compressed position. So when you see a lifter like that, you know you need a cam and all new lifters.

Yes, they are the comp cams Magnum roller rockers. I have not even taken the wrapping off yet to look for guide plates. I will post pics up when I unwrap her.

Got the engine on the stand and started working on it today. Here are a few pics of the roller rockers, guides and the oil line modification.
