Exist any official brochure or information paper for a Cherokee SUPER Chief?

Post by fossy »

Hi guys.

Does there any official information like a brochure exist for a Jeep Cherokee SUPER Chief? I know it was a dealer package but I neet an official document, sheet of paper, brochure - what ever to get my car licensed as a historic car because of its 2,5" lift and 33" tires. So any help would be great.

Thank you very much.

Best regards
Mathias

The super chief was actually a wagoneer built by the dealer Brian Chuchua with wide track axles and flares.
That's what you need ?

I got a copy of a magazine article and also a Chuchua catalog, but i think that there is only a picture in the catalog

Looking at the pictures you posted in the other thread and on facebook it would appear you have a 'Laredo' model, not a Chief.
1980 was the first year for the Laredo, can that get you an historic car designation?

Shure. If you could send me a copy that would be great.
I thought a Super Chief package was also available for the 2 door Chief? So pictures and prints for a 2 door Chief would be great.

I have seen different pictures from 2 door Chiefs with Super Chief package. But was this original? They all have the same wheels and decals. So there must be also something for the 2 door cars and not only for the Wagoneers.

Thanks

2dr Cheif's were all wide tracks. There was nothing special about them. The Super Chief was specifically a 4wd model.

We have a member here that owns a 4dr Super Chief.

#smile# I know that my car is an 1980 Cherokee Laredo. But during the restauration the car will become a smal body lift of 2,5" together with 33" tires on the original wheels. After German regulation this was not original parts for this car. Thats why it is possible that the guy from the German TÜV can say I will get no historisch car designation just of I can show him that it was possible to order the car with a bodylift and bigger tires like the Super Chief and he can see that the installed parts are contemporary parts because these ones could be installed too in the 1980s where the car was build.

Okay, that makes sense. So in Germany you are not allowed to modify the suspension or tire size? I am not sure they would even notice a slight lift, especially if you use springs. Tires are another issue. If it is Historical designation are the height and tire rules waived?

The Super Chief won't help, tires size was 11-15LT according to the magazine article which is equivalent to 30.7'' (found online) so smaller than 33''

Why you don't get the TÜV before the restoration ?

Oh, I missed that it was a body lift. That's a big puck. A mild spring lift would be a lot less obvious.

Yeah, body lifts are super obvious. 2" lift springs would be hard to tell apart from stockers. Heck, new stock springs may even give you lift over your old worn out ones.

Thank you all for the informations. I can't do a TÜV because the car is still under restauration in Italy at Matteo alias Mr. Wagoneer (www.grandwagoneer.it). So the car is not in Germany until May 2018. And when the car arrives here everything is done.
