Leather seat treatment

Post by 78 WIDETRAC »

I have some decent seats in the 91 GW . The leather is 28 years old and probably hasn't been treated much. I want to start so its not stiff and cracking, but supple. What products do you guys use to keep it nice?

Lexol - since it’s summer, treat and wrap in plastic. Let it “bake” To really soak in.
Bonus - available everywhere

We used a Maguires product that worked pretty well. Wife spent a couple hours massaging it in as best she could and it brought some life back to them. Considering it sat baking in the Colorado sun for 10+ years, I was amazed. They aren’t like new again but definitely turned out better than they were.

I think the key is letting it soak in. Most of the products out there that introduce oil back into the leather will work to bring it back to life so that its flexes instead of cracks.

I use meguires the stuff that jas Mink oil in it.

Oddly my seats in my wagoneer are mint.. lol which is good.. but the drivers is getting cracked by my upper left shoulder.. its due to me sweating on my back from a hot seat (yes a.c is cold) i need to remember to wipe down the seat everytime i get out.. otherwise itll start to split the leather..

I actually like that the seats are half leather have fsbric... it keeps them from wearing out and also keeps thrm from being so hot.. full leather seats arr HOT lol my 98 ZJ 5.9 limited has Calf skin leather a really high quality leather.. but they are hot... drivers side is cracked in many spots from my sweat.. but its ok i habe spare ones in storage
