Did something a little different today.

Post by UKJeeper »

Spent the day on exercise with the local 4x4 response team. 'Rescuing' a scout group trapped in Danbury woods by fallen trees.

Fortunately the fallen trees were real so we got to play with winches. Also had to move move a car, all so the emergency services could get access to the 'victims'. and then we transported the casualties to the rescue station.

All in all, a bit of a grin, but also a chance to practice with Red Cross and the ham operators.

Pics are up. I show up in the pics about 11:35.

Looks like fun. How long did it take you to get to the people needing recuse?

From initial assessment of situation, moving obstacles and getting medics in, about an hour and a half. It would have been quicker, but we were swapping out teams, so everyone could have a go at participating.

I couldn't get vid last week, but I used my come-along to pull a stuck F350 off a log by pulling the log sideways a bit then wrapping a chain around the tire and log so it cinched itself over the log and drove away. The other guys spent almost 12 hours trying to get it loose before I got there.
