SOA steering stabilizer

Post by Jeffsj »

I am finishing up on my SOA conversion and I am wondering what others have done for their steering stabilizer setups? I have 1-1/2" tubing for my tierod and draglink. Will I need to go custom, or is there a universal kit I could buy?

I have never run one Jeff, never had the need.
That's over 2 SOA setups (HD44 and D60) and 36" bias plys, 35's and now 37's.

I did install one of the Rancho universal kits when I was SOA on the HD44, but that was just to show how it mounted.
I took it off and sold it to the guy who wanted the pic's.

This is the only pic I can find.

Not real helpful I know.
It was from my D27, clamped to the axle tube and the tie rod.
It was sort of a weird fit on the HD44, wound up at an angle as I recall.

Thanks Tad. I was just afraid of bump steer, but if you don't have any issues with it, I guess I may just put this at the bottom of my priority list. Thanks again for all the help. I am off to start on the shackle flip!

The stabilizer won't help with bumpsteer really, it'll just dampen steering feedback a bit.

I don't have one on my J10. Haven't for many years. My JK on the other hand needs one, but that's because it has coils.

Bump steer is caused by incorrect steering geometry. As long as its correct, you should be fine.
