i really would like some input on what transfer case i should swap my quadratrac for? im looking for something that can handle 35"-37" tires, a built 401 and the occasional heavy foot. let me know what transfer cases other than the quadra trac that your running behind your th400s, and what was involved in your swap and if your happy with it. thanks
If you are willing to rebuild the trans (or strip it and put it all back together) to change the tail shaft any t-case from a GM th400 can be bolted up, with the stock adapter it goes with.
203, 205 (kinda semi-rare), 208, and several others.
If you decide to do something like that and need the short 32 spline output for a th400 pm me, I got one I'd send you for a good price.

Basically, for any different transfer case ... Get the transfer case. Get the adapter that goes between the transfer case and a TH400. Get the output shaft for a TH400 that fits the transfer case input gear. Remove your TH400 and disassemble it completely to remove the output shaft for the Quadratrac. Reassemble with the new output shaft. Bolt everything together. When the transfer case is back in the Jeep, figure out the linkages, drive shafts, etc.

Junkyard/C-list the adapter and t-case. You might check with your local transmision shops for the output shaft, sometimes just as cost effective since you wont have to strip the trans to get it.
