J10 Tires w/ 4" Lift

Post by Bshields44 »

Hey FSJ guys. I have a 75 j10 with a 4" trail master lift. Dana 44 f&r I am looking at putting on weld 16.5 x 12 with 15 (negative) offset on my truck. Has anyone else ran 12 wide wheels on j10 or 20 if so I would like to know how much they stick out? The tires at 33x14.50x16.5 I don't foresee a rubbing issue but more concerned about legal issues driving down the road. I can't test fit because the jeep is in getting the motor rebuilt. Thanks for any feedback and even better pictures!

J10 is 6 lug, so 16.5s won't work.

I split this topic off of the other one. No reason to revive a thread from years ago.

As for your question, most 16.5 wheels are for 8 lug applications. Even if you find some for 6 lug (they do exist), I would not go for 16.5 wheels. Tires are getting rare for them, and they do not have a safety bead.

As for them fitting, you need to really watch the back spacing due to the rear springs being very close to the tire.

You can get tires that wide to fit for normal driving, but they WILL rub when the back end flexes. And they will probably grab the front lower fender too.

I know the wheel size is rare but they were a Weld special order wheel specs read 16.5 x12 15mm the tires on it now are 33x14.50x16.5

I researched tire replacements when the one mounted wear out and BFG make a 33 and 35 12.50 x 16.5 they run about 220 a tire.

That all being said I'm really on the fence because I don't like that look where 5" of tire sticks out of the fender.

Use will be minimal mud and mountain climbs. Ideally this will be a project for my son and I that I can give him when he turns 16.

Get '88 and newer Chev truck 2wd 6 lug rims (4x4 are wrong offset) and 255/85R/16 tires.

Center hole is too small to fit over out hubs.

I have only found the aftermarket ones to fit, the stock rims dont have a large enough center hole to slide onto the front hubs. Turned down many set because I didnt want to hog them out... :banghead:

Personally, I would not put a 33 x 12.50 or 35 x 12.50 tire on a 12 inch wide wheel. The widest wheel I would run in 10", otherwise it is just going to look funny.

And I would just stay away from 16.5" wheels. Using 16's will make your life so much easier.

Ok guys after looking at it I felt like a LA hoopty with those wheels so I passed.

Found something interesting today though and hopefully I can get some input or feedback.
18x8 wheels 6x5.5 with 108mm (4") center bore opening is what's listed as my on my jeeps Dana 44s
These wheels came off a 2008 chevy colorado that by reading a few speck sites are the exact same bolt pattern and bore size.

Their a deep dish aka negative of set wheel so the rear shock location shouldn't be an issue. As the wheels on it now are standard offset 15x8

Has anyone else hear of these chevy colorado wheels fitting our big boy jeeps?

Again thanks for all the help. Don't want to waist more money then normal jeep ownership.

If they are "deep dish" they aren't stock. And they use slightly larger studs. Ours are 7/16", theirs are M12x1.5. Acorn nuts should still work with them. Just something to be aware of.

What is their back spacing? That's the important number.

No their aftermarket wheels and tires. That's just what they came off of. Their 18" wheels and it looks like the mounting surface to rear lip is 3.5"

Sounds like they should clear the springs fine then.
