I'm installing with 3.73, lots of options down the road.

The 27 only has 2 options that I could find.
3.73 or 5.38 so that's largely in part of why 44 up front.

Did you drill press DIY the highsteer!? How hard was that?

Wasn't too difficult, however accuracy is something of a concern.

Found some 1/2 ton dodge wheels. 17x8. Same bolt pattern.

Will have to machine out the hub bore, and install 9/16 studs to fit them. But...

The payoff will be more available 33" tires and less tire to collapse should I get a flat.

Anyhow more to come should I get that far.

Got my rear mounted tank mocked up, in so doing I realized there is no return line so its gotta come out, but it's just ratchet strapped in. Gonna need to braze a fitting in tomorrow. Hoping to get the scout axle in too... Hopefully we'll see.

When doing shackle flip does the mount need to be moved forward?

Got the scout rear in today, had to stick some perches on and flipped the shackles. Got a bit of stink bug effect going on.

You’re not planning to use a scout front axle too, are you? As I recall, scouts use some rather flat(?) caster which is built into the axle. Only way to fix it is to cut and reweld the inner “C”s. Not a small task.

No not in the front, I narrowed a chevy, it'll be spring over. But I'm not ready for that yet. I still need to finish the parking brake cables and connect the longer flex line for rear brakes. And weld on shock mounts.

Got a bit of work finished up on this thing and I gotta say I am really liking how it has turned out. And best part is it hasn't cost me any extra money, it's all been stuff I been building up to just didn't have the time or motivation to get around to. Well truth be told I've been playing a lot of fortnight but been practicing some self control as of late. And I spent a little bit on fuel and brake lines to finish all this stuff off, but I managed to first get the rear mounted tank installed, the scout axle completely installed, performed a rear shackle fip and relocated and installed longer front shackles. All in all I'd saw it has been a 100% improvement, mostly just because my brakes are fully functional now. Even with drums all the way round it stops no problem.

Its good to see that you still have the Jeep. How often do your drive it? Is the OM617 running well and reliable? Also, the Jeep hasn't gotten any Prettier

Pretty is the last of my concerns, I want to get everything done mechanically then worry about the looks. The quarter panelso are really bad and there lots of Surface rust but that don't bother me when I'm driving it which is every chance I get. I immediately went out and got it stuck in 2 hi after finishing up the front shackles which was pretty hard to do with the new aussie locker in the rear and the little bit of lift it's got now, but I popped it into 4 low got unstuck then into 4 hi and tried to get stuck again but it wouldn't happen.

So yeah its working well. I'm really liking every part of it. I'd like to find a front Dana 44 passenger drop spring under axle to do next .
But otherwise it's done with mods

That's all good to hear and "Pretty" is Subjective. I like Utility/performance over Looks any time.

When you decide to swap a spring under passenger drop front check out my current build thread. I have been doing all of the trial and error part on my 67 j2000 and got the swap figured out now. Parts lists and measurements are included. It might make it quicker and easier for you and take some of the guesswork out. That Wag is coming out awesome!

Your doing a good deal of work on yours, but mine is mostly set up like that already, mine only had post mounts in the rear. My problem lies in the full size chevy axle I've narrowed and completely rebuilt, then decided not to use it. I'm hoping to just find a sprung under housing then swap all those new parts over. And then
re-rebuild it.

I like the height I got with the new shackle setup, and don't want to move forward with the 6" of lift that will come with the S.O.S.

Nuthin fancy but I had a bit of fun with the jeep last weekend. Going to fit some 33" tires on it and try again.
