Just curious whats the mileage you should change the fuel filter ? When i got my 90 i did a full tune up including filter.. Old filter was pouring out black gasoline i doubt it was ever changed. Its been about 9k miles so im just wondering. Do they make the 3 nipple filters in clear ? I could only find the metal ones with the return line.

I have a glass filter with a replaceable element, so I just clean it out when it starts getting stuff in it.

Mine does not, I removed the return line because I run a fuel pressure regulator and I cannot regulate the pressure properly with it there.

However, you could run a T after it for the return line. I have seen T's with a large and small output for this scenario. Large to the carb, small to the return.

Would it hurt to run two fuel filters ? a clear one before the one near the carb ?

Should be fine, so long as volume doesn't drop off too much. Stock mechanical pump will put out 11psi, so pressure should be fine.

As said above, no problems for me either , I have the clear plastic before the E pump and the 3 nipple one laying on the inner fender well, no need to cook the filter by the heat from the exhaust manifold.

I have a serviceable glass filter before my mechanical pump to prevent crap from getting into it. Works great. Mr. Gasket brand, I believe.

Re service life of the fuel filter, typically the rubber hoses need replacing before the filter does IMO. The official service interval is in the TSM, if you look for it. '76 TSM page 4-2 says 15,000 miles for all models. The filter should not be clogged at that point, but replacing the hoses along with the filter avoids the significant fire hazard of these hoses cracking and leaking.
