I like how the map predicts you will break down just as you are about to leave Illinois. :)

My travel distance is just over 500 miles. Too short to split into two, too long to drive in a day. ;)

You'd be surprised at how fast the miles disappear under your tires when you're heading across I70 through Kansas. If the wind isn't blowing too badly, you can knock out 7-800 miles in a day without being wiped out.

I'm only about 6 hours from Ouray where I am, depending on stops. US highways are more direct than the interstate, saving me almost 50 miles. But they're slower so it only saves me a few minutes to go that way. Still, I like taking the scenic route even if it takes longer.

We are on state highways from Brush Co. to Ouray. Brush to Limon seems like it takes forever.

After several trips I have learned that the 'Welcome to Colorado' sign means I still have about 3 hours to go! But it's always a beautiful site, and the road quality improves too.

I've done that drive before. There's not much scenery going by out that way.

It took me a minute understand the chart. It might be that some of the passes stay closed.

We have been getting a crazy amount of snow on the western slope this year. For sure some of the passes will be closed this year. If it starts getting warm quick there will be flooding and lots of washouts.

What? You don't think wind turbines are pretty?

Honestly, there is some pretty country between Last Chance and Limon.

Its not as bad as I made it sound, that's for sure. I have driven way less appealing stretches of road.

I-35 through Kansas is what I'd call "less than exciting". Same with I-80 through Nebraska.

But I-94 west out of Fargo, ND is flat out... flat. Some of the most boring driving I've ever done.

I-80 From about North Platte West to almost Denver is pretty desolate. lol I agree on I-94. Made that drive a couple of times. If you have a co driver, its a good time to take a nap. :D

My typical drive isn't too bad scenery wise. Up the 260/277/377 to Holbrook. It40 to Gallup isn't great. And Gallup to Ship Rock, while desolate does include a lot of cool rock formations. After that it goes green and just get more gorgeous as I get closer.
