Decided to work on the exhaust a tad bit. So took manifolds to work. Sand blasted and glass beaded them. Then coated them with a black ceramic spray that is supposed to harden and resist 800-1200 degrees. We will see how that holds up?







Poor project is stalled. Waiting on parts and waiting on body shop to get fully going on body and bed and such.

So decided to work on steering box and brakes for the chassis. The box is monster. It is built by PSC and is for hydro-assist steering. It is already ported and ready. This box is bigger than you would find on a current Ram 3500HD.



PSC paint was not shiny enough for me.

I also sa on blending he FSJ brake lines with 2010 Jeep Rubicon brakes. Will play with brake proportioning valve later on.

Been a few months since any progress. so Anderson’s Auto Body in Sonora, Ca. Has done extensive body work to cab. They have also sealed and sprayed with Raptor lining. Firewall, underneath and inside cab. I also had him delete all of the chrome trim holes. The only trim on this truck will be behind cab. I also will not be using chrome windshield trim possibly. Up in the air on that at moment. Dash will also get the same Raptor lining treatment.

Decided to play with the instrument panel. Thank you Ryan at BJ’s OFFROAD for getting out the Dakota Digital to me.

And yes I will be using vacuum setup for door controls on heater box unit.

And Ryan should be sending me a fan control switch shortly.

I reworked everything and it all works perfectly as designed. I am un decided if the gauge clear lenses are staying. Not happy with the 50 year old faded plastic. I cleaned them somewhat. But really not perfect as I want. So May revisit that. Dakota builds their part so you can go either way.

As far as on dash. The ash tray and clock will be coated in the Raptor lining . And Ryan already sent me a new glovebox insert.. 2nd one… found the first one hiding on my toolbox. Darn it…

I will be getting fully primed and prep sanded cab back on Monday from Paint.

The idea is to get cab back onto chassis. And start working on plumbing and electrical and dash install. And will figure out inner fender full setups. And painter will start working on bed. Hood and doors are in final primer. Front fenders and bed and front grill unit are next. I will hopefully end of Monday or Tuesday have a huge photo dump coming. It is closer to getting back up to full speed on this.

My Transmission guy wants to remove transfer case and repaint nd is threatening to do same with Transmission.

Looking good! just got back from SEMA show besides my truck there were only two other J trucks and two waggies, and what seemed like thousands of Bro trucks so a really nice FSJ is still quite rare! keep up the good Hal.

All of the body work complete on cab. All seams resealed. Everything primed and sanded and reprised. Time to work on interior. Just for info. All nuts, bolts and washers Stainless Steel not chrome. I am having medical issues so I am going real slow,

Started working getting heater box and dash installed. Along with brake pedal bracket. Need all of this in so when I set body on chassis. I can finalize steering setup between JKU Box and hybrid Cherokee/ Wrangler steering column with FSJ floor bracket. Mix and match everything all about Jeep.

So had to make sure Firewall area was ready. Cleaned, blasted and primed and painted mounting plate. I am using a hybrid column made from a Cherokee column and a Wrangler column. And of course will be using more stainless steel fasteners. Seems like there is a theme here? Next up will be tilt column redo.

Well redid the steering column. I will have to go back in and look at head light High Beam switch. that is honestly the only part that usually kicks my butt. But everything was stripped down . Cleaned in my aqueos parts washer at 180 degrees. Glass blasted then washed again. acetoned and sprayed. I swear is there anything I can just leave alone? Nope has to have been touched and cleaned and prepped. OCD at it's worst. And I also installed the column in the cab. This whole evolution is to make chassis steerable.

Prepping the cab for going back on chassis. Will have to drag chassis from out of storage. Then prep frame with painters guard so nothing gets on it. Also need to touch up bottom of cab for uniformity of color.


I believe my cart for cab is a tad bit over kill? It is actually meant and built for a 1963 Corvette Stingray body we removed from the cart 3 weeks prior to putting cab on it.





This cab has been off and on this rack so many times over past couple of years….lol
