Also got heater hoses installed. Had to switch the water pump because the factory one for the engine didn’t have a heater hose outlet thing, but we had another 350 in the back that had one so I swapped it quick.

Just need a lower radiator hose now and some coolant (and to tighten the bumpers) and in theory it will be road ready.

Thanks yeller. This afternoon I made my top bolt bracket for the front bumper. Before the bumper just had a lower bolt in it and would just sit there. Image
I built the black piece today for each side. Didn’t take too long. Then tightened all the bolts, front and rear so now the bumpers are done I think.

Your last two photos made for a fun game of "spot the differences" because they are super close to each other :)

Vs after. Still definitely some dirt but it’s better than it was. The hood was the worst part but I forgot to take a before and after of that

Here is a picture of the car wash bucket I was using. Yes, the water was clear before I started (except for the bubbles)

She’s running again. Radiator is all hooked up and everything. Spun BOTH of them surprisingly easy which was a pleasant surprise.

Also tested out the 4 wheel drive. In the distance you can see the tracks going up to the road. It walked up it without slipping a tire. It’s about a 15-20 foot climb and it is pretty steep. There have been quite a few jeeps (mostly new ones) that can’t make it up that.

But……
There was coolant in the oil. So off goes the intake and then clean everything up. Hoping it was just intake gaskets and not head gaskets that went bad. If it’s head gaskets we’re putting in the other 350 with a tbi that we have. Oh well. Still happy with how it performed.

Problem appears to be fixed. Got the gaskets changed and got engine temp up using fun strategies, and it didn’t smoke. When it was cold went back out to make sure oil level didn’t go up, and it didn’t so we should be good.

Making some small progress. Getting the bonded title and then getting it insured and then I can drive it. Sadly they are putting salt and s*** down on the roads so I PROBABLY won’t drive it in that. Got my radiator overflow line hooked up. Image
That is my remaining list

Got the plates. I’m gonna put insurance on it on monday then it’s going to be the daily driver.

I’m also looking at getting tires for it. I’m leaning towards the falken rubitrek. Initially I was going to do the wildpeaks, but after talking with my installer, he can mount and balance the rubitreks for $120 cheaper than the wildpeaks. Upon reading on them further I found that the tires are nearly identical, with the same/similar ratings in various categories.

I’m going to run 33x12.50r15’s on it, most likely with 15x10 white wagon wheels.

Here is a photo comparison of rubitreks vs wildpeaks. The main difference is the center lugs of the rubitreks are a little bit less spaced out, giving it better road manners and less road noise, and making it a little bit worse in mud. I figure that that is a fair trade for what I will be using the truck for especially while I’m in high school

Maiden voyage complete. It was so fun. Definitely doesn’t drive like a 2017 chevy half ton thoughImage. It was a great time though. Kinda sketchy in the dark and no speedometer but I just used the speedometer app on my phone and it went fine.
