We're down to "only" 27 things to do on her.
Rims were stripped, wire brushed, sanded, rust treatment, then repainted
A Satin White finish.
The gun rack was cleaned up, but not restored. We reused the sun baked brass screws to hold her up- but I used rubber gaskets to seal out weather.
I used an old Red Ryder BB Gun we found in the basement of our house when we moved in- it has a natural rusty aged patina from being behind the heater for at least 4 decades. It makes for a nice prop, it's non-op, but it won't stay. It does match the vintage NRA sticker on the rear window, though.
I bought 75.00 worth of wire to reroute the harness. I stayed up a little later than normal last night to unwrap the factory tape/wrap so, now we dig into the tedious part.

Hahaha. Uck yeah!
I went as far as I could. 62 took over:
We're running most of the rear harness through the clutch delete plate on the left side of the steering column cover plate. A perfect spot that requires no additional cutting into the firewall.

The look on his face when it fired up was worth all this work.

The wheel spacers are getting installed.
That way we can run uncut hubcaps all the way around- it was 62's idea. I liked it. It fits the original two wheel drive theme.
One down, three to go. I sold off the other set of tires/rims we had put on almost at the start. I don't remember why I did that. Live and learn.
The drivelines are getting reworked at a local shop. The front needed to be longer and the rear needed to be shorter. I know my limitations, so to the pros they went.

The steering column and shaft are installed:
We are working on the Dana 300 transfer case shifter- attempting to fabricate brackets to relocate the shifter to the stock Dana 20 Spot... on our 2nd attempt.

So, we're finalizing the brake lines, mounting up the proportion valve, starting it more and more to get the engine ready for daily usage, wrapping up the wiring to the headlight, tail, turn lights. Now I have to drag the old cab out of the corner of the yard where it's been stealthily hidden by bushes and flowers for the past several years.
All was well until the last stretch.
It's like 100 degrees in the smoky air and the front wheel support caved in. Hahahaha. At least 62Thriftside is learning about winching techniques! We've only been at it for nearly three hours. Another hour ought to do it. Then he can have a root beer, and I'll have the real thing.

Never send a challenge out into the universe! Hahahaha. I knew better than to say, "It can't get worse."
I said it anyway. The other side just caved in! Hahahaha. Dang. Maybe it's beer 30 now. Hahaha

Always have an exit strategy:
Another wheeled rack ready to go. I guess we needed more than an hour. But, hey, I've already started that beer!
Oops is right. The nice thing is this is the last item on my to-do list before vacation is over and I go under the knife!

The windshield, doors and bit of the interior are being reused on the build. The cab itself will be going up for grabs.

62 wrapped up the last of the wiring for the front end lights:
We've began to transfer things from the old cab to the new one, like rear cab chrome trim:
The coup d'grace:
A pro is transfering the old windshield into the new cab! Q's Auto glass has some amazing attention to detail.
Edit:
Done- he even got the chrome trim done correctly!

You'll want to make sure it doesn't leak. Safelite did mine and I've taken it to them twice and it still leaks.
And isn't it a little early for bang sticks in the rack for a truck with no doors?

Dang. The ap is not letting me post. It shuts down when I do. Weird.
I took a screen shot of my second attempt.
