After a long and cold winter, finally getting warm weather so I can get to working on my jeep! Decided I should do like everyone else and start a build thread to track progress and show everyone those pictures that they love! Will try and post pictures and keep up on this thread as much as I can. Hoping to make it into a daily driver/weekend camping and fishing rig.
Found some goodies in what is left of the glove box!
And here is Southern AZ....it is almost too hot to work on much until winter, when it cools down
Early morning or late afternoons, to tinker on the little stuff, before or after temps are near 100*.
I wish we could have warm weather for more months in the year! Im up in eastern montana and it seams like we only get 3 months of warm weather. My boss vacation down by lake havasu when the winter months hit up here.
Some fresh gas and rebuilt the 2150 carb and jeep fires right up! Have receipt for someone else rebuilding the carb and they removed the auto choke and pre-heater stuff. Did some upgrades couple weeks ago. Looks like all factory parts still on the engine. New msd coil, cap, rotor, and plug wires. Dismantled the distributor, cleaned and greased it, and installed new Mr, Gasket springs. Reluctor wheel was rusted to shaft and it snapped in half when trying to take it off. Luckily napa in the next town over had one! Also, figured out the hard way that the engine is backwards from these newer ones! Spins counter-clockwise and number 1 cylinder is front drivers side! All it cost me was a new power valve and gasket. Jeep runs fine for 30seconds then starts running rough and leaking fuel.
Received new parts and rebuilt carb, again, now jeep wont stay running unless you hold gas pedal down. Pull return line off from fuel filter and not a lot of fuel coming out. Pull oil dipstick and oil pan full of fuel now. Now onto fuel system upgrade and another oil change!
We are thinking fuel pump too. Trying to decide on doing a electric fuel pump upgrade or just keep the mechanical pump. It gets really hot and really cold here so need to figure out what would be better. Also looking at replacing the carb with electronic fuel injection system. In the middle of buying a house with a shop so no more money going to jeep till thats done.
