J Truck Rear Glass - Sliding or Non-Sliding

My '86 J20 has a solid, non-sliding, single piece of glass for the rear cab window.
Some folks tell me to leave it telling me that the latch mechanism does not work that well...
...the latch is typically broken and can be easily broken by someone wanting to break in the rig.
Some folks say it is nice to have and a desirable option.
What is your opinion?
Why do you enjoy a sliding rear glass?

I always preferred the look of the non sliding window, and I never felt the need for a sliding window in my J10.
But really up to personal preference. If you like it, go for it. Our trucks are so easy to break into anyway, I would not use that as a reason to not have one.

I like my slider and use it all the time. Unless it’s really hot or cold I’m a window down, arm in the window guy. My wife is not…. Opening the vents and back glass give a lot of fresh air without the wind from the windows being down. My back window is open more than it is closed. However purely aesthetics, solid glass.

@yeller could you post a pic of your sliding window latch. My truck had a sliding window but the latch is broken so I want to see what its supposed to look like.
In regard to the topic at hand, I agree with what Yeller said about the airflow piece. With the back window open you get a lot more airflow moving through the cab. Depending on where you live though, especially if you have one with a broken latch, it can be bad about keeping heat in.

x3, with the floor vents and rear window open it moves some serious air through the cab.

I would think the sliding ones leak more no ? I wanted a sliding one for my J10 but never got the window for it due to fear of leaks.

Glad this popped back up, I forgot…. Here’s a couple of pics, let me know if you need more.
As for leaking I’m sure they do, I don’t notice mine leaking, haven’t found anything wet or notice any air leaking.
