My '81 J10, 258, T176, NP208, 31" tires, short box was 4100 lbs empty as I recall. Thats rounded a bit, I think it was a few pounds off in one way or the other.

My '75 Cherokee for comparison with a 360, T18a (HEAVY), D20, 33's, custom bumpers, and a tad rack, and a few tools in it, was just over 5000lbs.

What will you be towing it with?

Towing it with a friends trailer that he built. He tows his tj with it thats loaded up to about 4100 lbs. The J10 is a long bed w/ a 360 in it. Everything seems to be stock. Havn't been able to get a lot of info so I hope this isnt a bogus add. The guy has emailed me a few times with short responses. If all goes well I could be picking it up next tues.

I meant what kind of truck :)

I would advise not towing it with your waggy. Also be sure the trailer is long enough. Long bed J10's have a 131" wheel base.

Gotcha. The trailer is long enough. I'm thinking I'm gonna borrow my father in laws f150. I was gonna go with my buddy who has a f250 w/ cummins but he has to go back out on ship.

Cummins F250 eh? :p

My 82 longbed with a 258 T176 NP208 was 4000lbs empty on the dot. I flat-towed it with an XJ...NOT recommended

The folks I sold that one to pulled it with a V6 F150 on a flatbed several hundred miles. It was loaded on backwards but I can't recall if we did that to distribute the weight better or because that's how it came out of the garage.

Plenty of people that swap in cummins engines into Fords ;) ( www.fordcummins.com )

Having the engine on the back sounds like a recipe for trailer sway.
