Check out this video from 1978 of a trip from the southern tip of South America to the Northern tip of North America. Mostly Cj-7s but an occasional shot of a Wagoneer and a J-20 that went on the trip too:

I wonder where those Jeeps are today?

Wish I'd taken some pics of a late 70's-early 80's yellowstone video we watched in my world geography class. Had a couple really nice honchos, a couple of chero's and a wagoneer or two in it.

Sent from my Motorola Moto X

Mark Smith of Jeeper Jamboree, the guy that lead that expedition, just passed away.

I wrote a small eulogy in the last issue of my magazine.

I was over at a neighbor's house (who I have known for YEARS) drinking, and I brought the expedition up in conversation. Lo and behold, My neighbor's wife told me that her too step uncles were on that trip. (They can be seen in the video)

One has since passed away, but I am going to interview the other uncle for a possible article. To this day he still has the Jeep he drove in the expedition. I plan on asking him how the waggy did and if it's still around.

Don't be shy and bring a tape recorder.... arrrrgh I date myself... what is used today to record voice... a smartphone... Bring a camera... or a video...

This trip was an amazing endeavor.... IIRC the waggy(s) was(were) the beast(s) of burden, gasoline and supplies (can't remember if one or two...

That is going to be an awesome article. There is no modern equivalent to old expeditions like that.
