And so it begins again , this time a 79 Wagoneer.
Image
Been on a few trails from AZ to Ouray with this rig and it's owners spent a few camp fires howling at the moon also with this family. We were asked if we, The AZ group wanted to take on another project and well here it sit's in Tucson.
Right now Jerry drove it down from Globe Wednesday ,Tad , Martin ,Casey and Nancy and myself were here to unload it and swap parts. Change out the Battery with a new one and drove it off the trailer.
To do
Brakes complete all new
Tranny swap in a good one ( came over to AZ back in Nov. from Jamie )
Replace the e-drive back to stock
Rebuild the front axle
Tires replace with new
Replace the floor boards front ,rusted out.
All new fluids and Tune up.
And then when that's done I done know but we'll have fun with it.
This is Project Unicorn

Martin so far since last week we got the passenger floor board cut out. Thanks to Tad we have the floor and rocker panels to replace the rusted and damaged. Casey dropped by yesterday with a tail gate and Lift bar and window so that will be getting swapped out shortly.
Casey power washed down everything so we have less dirt and grease to work threw.
the rusted out floor.

Not as bad on the drivers side.

Also did some straightening of the brush guard.

Floor's ready to be clean and made in to patch panels.

Jenni will be down this week to help and go over everything for the project.
also we have the shop for the 16 of Aug. it will be posted in the mountain section.

No surprises in the cargo area so that's good.

Cleaned out years of silt and dirt from the wells and got the drain holes flowing good.

It can be amazing what some scrubbing will do for a Jeep. :-bd Tossing rotten 30 something year old carpet is usually fun too. ;)

I'm curious, with your front seat area floor repair, did you butt weld the new sections in or overlap slightly? I'm weighing how I'll attempt mine.

I butt welded mine and wish I would have been able to flange them.

I 'll do a little of both. Reason for that on this project I have a full floor pan to use for the repair.I'm going back far enough to use on of the braces as a stopping point so I'll seam it on top of that. the rest will be in the stock locations so it will get spot welded together.

Looking good! I still haven't gotten around to installing your rhino grill upper support bracket but will get to it soon. I'm currently working on rear shoulder belts for the kids. Guess I'll finally have to get around to starting a build thread so I can show off your bracket!
