Hello! Your friendly neighborhood FSJ get together organizer guy here, putting a feeler out for an August gathering of old iron. Right now looking at Sunday the 16th for something. It's hot out, but less so in the hills and the trails! To attract you folks down there in California, might I suggest Placerville as the location? This quaint mining town is located on US50, easy drive up from the Sacramento area (Even the bay!), a hop skip and switchback up 49 for the Sonora crowd, and conveniently located for the Reno crew as well. Plenty of food and drink venues, and a couple trails. Vis a vi:

Trail is rated for stock 4x4 vehicles for an easy, fun ride through trees and dirt. FSJ not up to the drive? That's ok, bring your SUV/pickup and join in!

So, if this works for people please post up. If another day or location is better for people, let me know. Looking to get an event going regardless of place/time.

Deff interested--especially if some moderate wheeling is involved.

Looking more at the trail, it's about 1/3 dirt road, 1/3 offroad stock 4x4 rated trail (spur down to fire lookout is slightly higher rated) then 1/3 dirt road to the end. Probably won't be a challenge except to stockers, BUT there are some side trails and loops that look more challenging for people to try out. The fire tower is open to visit if there is a ranger there and being end of summer there should be one, so that is something fun to do as well. And its right on the trail.

Trailfinder rates the main road as 2-3 (they say 2 is stock 4x4) and the fire spur as 3.

Looking at places to eat in the town, a place called Pizza Bene looks great. I know Jim likes pizza and they have garlic bread!

Okay, so, I know I'm just one guy, but, I cannot make it that weekend. Have had plans for that weekend for some time now.

If it somehow happened to be the FOLLOWING weekend, I'd be in. I'd REALLY love to go, but the weekend of the 15th just cant happen
