Loose connector under dash

Post by sirrus »

Can anyone help me identify what that connector is for? Comes from the same harness as AC blower resistor, but I didn’t find anything around that would have matching connector

Have you looked at the wiring diagram from the TSM? https://oljeep.com/gw/elec/GW_wiring.html
You should be able to match the conductor count and wire colors.

Yes I did, no luck there. I went only over heating and AC, though.

Next weekend I’ll try checking voltages on this mysterious connector, maybe it’ll give me some idea where/what to look for.

Perhaps for a stereo amplifier? My earlier jeep had a small booster. If someone replaced the radio it might explain why that's not attached and there doesn't appear to be a place to attach it. Also, someone purposely wire tied it.

Mine looks the same and my radio was removed for a non OEM model. Don't take this as truth but I think wil e has a point. Zip tie was a great detail point.

Good idea! Never knew that they had external amps on these Jeeps. My original radio was still in but dead, maybe PO removed it

Today it finally hit me, after I found another unplugged connector under hood - it's for rear wiper! I guess even though my 1988 rig never had one, they probably started adding partial wiring for them at the factory earlier. One less mystery now :D

Yes it is for the rear wiper. Looks just like that anyway
