1979 Cruise Control

Post by Driftwood »

I'm attempting to return my cruise control to operational status. First, I had to dig through my hoard to locate the bellows. I recall removing this "Junk" back in 08. Found it, but had to secure both ends of it with clamps. It holds vacuum! Its a simple system and am confident I can get it to work.

Installed new vacuum lines, reinstalled the bellows, checked the inline 1.5 amp fuse, took it for a spin and VOILA! After 12 years, I have Cruise Control! Little victory dance.

The only feature that my 1979 "Cruise Command" system doesn't have is the Accel feature. I'm just happy to have a operational cruise control system.

Here's a link to my cruise control pic album.

Cruise control is a nice thing to have! Your system version looks very different from late years too

I was going to fix my cruise, but decided to get a kit from Dakota Digital instead and get rid of factory vacuum/electrical system. Still waiting for it to arrive though
