Air conditioning

Post by BECKS84JGW »

I'm trying to decide whether to put an aftermarket a.c. in my 84 grand wagoneer. Was looking at vintage air gen 4 and has anyone installed one. Also bjs offroad has a complete kit. Which one would work better in a full size jeep? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a vintage air in my 78 J10. It had a york compressor but that compressor was not a good choice. I replaced it with a sanden and it works very well.

If you go to "air conditioning " part of this board there are a few examples of Vintage Air Gen IV installs, the only real advantage to me anyway is to remove the oem heater housing from the engine compartment and simplify the separate heater/AC into one and bring everything up to current standards.
That being said the conversion is lots of work and depends on your levels of expertise,I install AC for a living and would be glad to help with no strings.
