Headliner

Post by BECKS84JGW »

Trying to remove the headliner on a1984 jeep grand wagoneer. I removed back trim on back of headliners a pulled back piece out. Problem is getting front piece because of divider trim. How do you remove divider trim without damaging it so I can pull front piece out? Thanks.

It's snap in, snap out, at least on later models (assume it's the same). Maybe there's a "good" way, but mostly pull down gently, then push the sides. You should also be able to remove the side trim and front trim and get it out without removing the middle trim if I'm recalling correctly. Removing any 3 sides should make the 4th side unnecessary.

Open one of the rear doors and simply slide that trim piece out. The built-in black rail attached to the roof has a track the trim piece slides in and out of. The trim piece has some built-in in cuts to help bend it enough so the angled sides can easily-enough be manipulated in and out of the rail.

Mystic - that is a great tip! I just snapped mine out which is always a heart attack with ancient plastic.

Its a soft plastic not a hard plastic. Pretty flexible and doesnt seem to get brittle
