Tool to remove windshield wiper pivot shaft body

Post by Laredo Matt »

Does anybody know the name of the tool used to remove the pivot shaft body for the wipers? it looks to be a special tool.

There is no mention of it could find in TSM. It basically has four slots (12,3,6,9 o'clock) that a blade would insert in and then twist the nut off.

I know I can remove it with other tools but wanted to try and preserve the body of the nut and not scratch it up if possible. I might replace the pivot arms and motor all together, haven't decided yet but thought someone may want/need OEM parts for a restoration so if it's simple to get and I can keep from scratching them I'd like to take that route.

Its a pretty rare tool these days. I dont think anybody makes them anymore. I think when I had to deal with one last a friend had a spanner wrench that fit it, but it wasn't exactly correct.

Here is another that shows two sizes of them:

This is what I used: https://www.parktool.com/product/pin-s ... reen-spa-1

The tips are round so I used a file to square it off.

Thanks guys!

may see if i can fab something up that will fit. Not a great welder or fabricator by any means, just now learning, but this seems like a good easy, low risk part to try and make.
