Coil question 1981 waggy SOLVED

Post by Lti57 »

I have a question my 1981 wagoneer with a 360 and a Mallory distributor the crappy plastic housing holding the wires to the stock coil is kaput. I want to replace with a coil that has the screw terminals on the top.
Anything I should know. I don’t see a ballast anywhere
Seems I should be able to put any 12 volt coil in matching the ohms correctly
Thanks for your knowledge guys

Yes, any coil with no internal resistor. Your Jeep has a nichrome resistance wire buried in the wiring harness. Clearly shown on the wiring diagram. https://oljeep.com/gw/elec/81/81_FSJ_Wi ... mPage1.jpg
