I know a bunch of people have installed the 90’s Ford Bronco mirrors on their trucks and wanted to get an update of how they are surviving. Do you have any wobbling, shakes, or feel like the mirror will fall off?
Any mounting hints you can provide to others? People always run into something different. Like Strode tried to grind more of the base and mount them lower, but still mounted them slightly off angle.
I have the mirrors in the garage and plan on installing them within the next month.
- My concerns are contact with the vent window when opened.
- Also by cutting off the internal bracket on the mirror, does this make the mirror wobble a bit more. I planned on buying mirror tow extensions for those times when I do need the extra width. Would it be too more weight cantilevered from the bolts.
- What kind of hardware did you use to secure the mirrors to the door? The stock mirrors mount to the door with fine thread countersunk screws. Should a small support plate be mounted on the inside of the door skin?
Thanks for the tips. The only detailed thread I could find is Tadd’s where he uses his ruler to give the best dimensions.
No problem with vent window clearance. Although the window track does slightly obscure my view on the driver side since i mounted it far enough back to clear the vent window.
I used the machine screws from the Ford with matching nuts and oversized washers inside the door. No noticible movement or vibration while driving. Most of the flex when I try to move them comes from the swivel joint on the mirror itself.

No longer strangled. I didn't build it for anyone else.
If you can't improve it why waste your time?
