I like BL and have had them on most of my 4x4s. The stiffness is related to the amount of arch, the number of leaf's and length of the spring. Our Front springs are 47" long and set under the axle [requiring more arch]. The more arch creates a tighter and tighter half circle making them resist flexing. Ideally, a leaf spring is best when its neutral state flat. The more arch introduced--generally the stiffer the ride. The only way to add lift and improve the ride is to make the spring pack longer [distributing the arch over a longer area] or add more/thinner leafs to support the weight.
