I am gathering parts for my 78 Cherokee. I am going to LS swap it and have all of the suspension and drive train redone while I’m at it. I want to be able to daily drive it anytime I want pretty much anywhere I want. No rock crawling though. Just low to mid level trails I can enjoy with the family.
Here’s my question. What would be a reasonable price for a 5.3 with all accessories (minus AC compressor) with complete wire harness and programmed PCM setup for a 4l60 or 4L80?
I am looking at getting the motor from Mule Town Speed out of Columbia TN. The motors are gone through (not rebuilt) and parts replaced as necessary. You can watch him run them on an engine stand on YouTube before you buy it. He also tells you all of the parts that were replaced before he runs it on an engine stand.
The motors run roughly from $2300 and up depending on the miles and such. I would go with a gen 3 as to bypass all the active fuel management crap. You can look on his website (https://muletownspeed.com/levels/ ) and see the 3 levels he offers. Level 3 is install add fuel and power and start. He tunes the PCMs using HP tuners software. What are y’all’s thoughts on going this route for a donor motor?
