Side exhaust turnout vs rear exhaust pipe

Post by CoconutFiasco »

Hello,

I am finishing up my build on a ls swap for my 86 Wagoneer and I have the exhaust almost finished I just need to route the last few feet. I have it on the passenger side and currently it ends after the muffler before the rear axle. I have plenty of room with the aftermarket tank I installed to either go straight back, or route it out to the side and I was wondering if there was an Ideal way to do it. My concern is if I have the back window down, is it going to suck in exhaust fumes if I route out the back. Any advice would be hepful

IME you will get fumes in the back regardless of your exhaust routing, if you leave the window down. I don't think that's a realistic expectation.

You will have fumes in the side windows if dump out the sides. IMO your best option is a dump at a rear corner.

The air deflector on the back of grand washers is there to prevent exhaust fumes from coming inside the rear window.

But regardless, you don’t want the exhaust exiting under the vehicle.
