Mounting up a full size Blazer rear bumper.

Post by Tnsser »

Since finding a used rear bumper is pretty much like finding a unicorn I started looking at other options. This is a super cheap build(all mine are) so I found this bumper for 75 bucks. I've cut and trimmed it to fit. I'm figuring out the mounting brackets now. Looking for opinions on how it looks. I'm interested in what others think. It looks pretty good to me.

Looks fine. It being that deep will affect the break-over angle, but will be convenient if you tow a small trailer.

Im not sure how much lower it sits than the factory bumper. I do know the way I am installing it it sits about 2 inches higher or closer to the tail gate.

The ends and the middle. I wanted it up higher than the factory one sits.

I pondered the bumper configuration myself too, and settled on the fact it's 95% likely to be a customization Or MOD of one, to make fit. Which is fine, I like the diamond plate look anyway. Add a little space for a step width to them, always adds to the utility truck appearance .

I finally figured out how I'm going to mount it. I wanted to be able to remove it when needed so I didn't want to just weld it in place. I'm going to use two 2in receivers that bolt onto a flat surface. I'm going to weld 2 in place and then weld two, 2in extensions to the bumper. That way I can just slide it into place.

Being more of a 'traditionalist' on these vehicles ... not a fan of that swap. Takes away from the spirit of these trucks IMHO.
Sorry.

Just kidding lol. 😂

It's all good. It is easy enough to change over if needed. In just want to be able to get my river boat in the water.

Dunno, I'd think you could weld flat plates onto the bumper, and bolt it to the side of the frame like the factory offerings. The receivers sound like a lot of extra work. How often and under what circumstances would you remove it? Plenty of stories of hitches rusted solid into receivers, and are the receivers that much less work to undo than a handful of big bolts?

I think this is a great option for these trucsk, even if the fit isn't perfect. Just having a back bumper will increase the utility of your truck a lot, and protect it from a low-speed collision. Definitely worthwhile.

YOU asked for "how it looks?" and "what you think?" ... and BOOM ... da it is.

It's a rough looking truck, on a "cheap build" so it shouldn't matter.

I guess you failed to read my entire response. The "Who asked you" was followed by "Just kidding lol 😆". No one has a sense of humor theses days or they just lack reading comprehension. Don't know which is the case for you. Yes its rough and yes it's going to be a "cheap build" because I do all my own work. Replacing panels and body work. It will all be done correctly. Kind of like the Cherokee seats and console I installed. Got then for 50 bucks. Have power and heat too. But thanks for the unnecessary knock on my 1400 dollar project.

Not looking for a compliment just explaining that I was joking. I never wanted everyone to like the idea. I know thats impossible. Just trying to establish some feedback on this forum.

Sorry.
Wanted to clarify my response above. I offered an honest opinion on what that bumper looked like on that truck. I thought the original poster had asked for "opinions and input". I gave mine, and the reason for it.

Seems that was considered 'an insult' to the poster. It wasn't.

Now that I see more pics of the truck ... I think it's pretty cool.

I'd be careful in the future asking for honest opinions if you can't handle honest opinions, though.

Just my .02 cents
