Front clip disassembled, sand blasted and primed, will prime with dtm epoxy primer when it arrives.

After than will add undercoating and paint to wheel wells, then spray engine compartment faces with black.

I removed the old welting and bought some nice heavy 2mm rubber (floor runner from Home Depot), cut new ones and will apply after paint. Then reassemble.

Sand blasted, dtm epoxy primed and painted with outlaw black. Took a page from new2me’s build and RE did the welting. Found 2mm rubber runner at Home Depot, used old ones as templates. Attached with some zinc zip screws.

Also sprayed body schultz on inner fender walls.

Put front clip back on. Now searching for radiator hoses.

Got front clip attached, brute forced it up hill and into the shop to continue wiring and finishing engine work.

Tom woods drive shafts are on the way, honestly they were awesome. I called with incorrect terms but good measurements. The guy totally hooked me up, patience’s and double checked my work. Stoked about the parts.

Made some fresh air vent delete plates. 16g zinc coated steel from HD, then some double sided butyl tape and some 3m seam sealer.

Used fresh air vent housing to make the template and mark holes for drilling. Image

It started!!! Holy smokes

Wired up the psi harness and Dakota digital dash.

Took a few intervals to prime fuel pump. But it roared to life.

I’ll post exact wiring details in a bit. But Dakota digital was pretty easy really, I pulled the under dash harness, pulled the specific wires, removed old wires no longer used then installed, twist tied looms. Removed and harness taped them appropriately.

Had to add a small fuse block for the keyed power to Dakota and psi.

Also pre wires my relays for dual fan controls from psi. Mounted them in tandem with the cruise control signal conversion relays I had to implement to utilize stock column cruise controls.

Stock Exhaust manifold on driver side seems to dump pipe right against proportioning valve. So I’m gonna have to bump engine pass way or get different manifolds.

Probably different manifolds because tranny is stabbed into stock points, and TC is up against heat shielding on pass side.

Tranny fluid is leaking at clocking ring, I think it’s from TC but not sure. Np241c pass side drop any thoughts would be appreciated.

It's not uncommon to nick the input seal on the TC during installation if it accidently rested on the trans output shaft for a bit...

I’ll give it a good look over, I’m pretty thankful for the lift and 33s. I can sit full upright(Criss cross apple sauce) in the tunnel and man handle the TC.

Questions:

- anyone checked if you could cleanly hide a double din touch screen behind glovebox door? Then just halve your insert.

- gen4 vintage air vs BJS kit? Thoughts?

I’m gonna call up VAir and ask them about control options. I have a scheme to adapt stock heater controls.
1. Cold2hot slider; I know they do this because the c10 kit has a slide control
2. Off,defrost,heater vacuum switch.. I could just attach the rotating assembly to a dial switch or if they have vacuum controller integration.
3. Fan speed, self explanatory.

- dash vents, anyone seen or found ones that look well placed in the clock/ashtray holes?


Update:


water pump was peeing a bit, thankfully LS water pumps are cheap and easy, so that’s ordered.

Oil cooler cap and filter were leaking too, so gasket and can are ordered.

Adapter Gaskets came in for the TC/clock ring/training mate, I’ll drop driveshafts and take some pics of the setup for the knowledge base.

I would love more info on the cruise control signal conversion, I have an 86 with an LS that I will need to figure out the CC for.

Pictures of the:
- drive lines
- Np241c with clocking ring
- np241c SYE(slip yolk eliminator) from kb conversions

If I were to do it again I’d get the SYE kit from Tom woods. That way my CV would match all around to front and rear axles. Also jb conversions has a special milled cv. So if you decide to get matching all around, then you have to order it machines down or the retaining nut won’t seat.

Also wanted to point out, when using the Dakota digital cluster, I had to mount independent sensors. Coolant went front driver side of head.

Oil went passenger rear side of block.
