The bolts are the same for 74-91.

Team Grand Wagoneer has bolts for the rear doors, but I dont see them for the fronts: https://teamgrandwagoneer.com/rear-door ... 1974-1991/

But maybe you can contact them regarding front doors. Though their prices are pretty high. It requires 14 bolts total per rear door, which is like $30 per door. Not the end of the world, but pricy compared to buying the bolts on their own (if you need the length, thread, and bevel specs)

They also have new hinge pins for the doors if you need those.

Great looking build and I look forward to seeing how it turns out. I thought about a hemi but decided to go with an LT1. Now I just have to find the right donor.

I'm in a similar state on my build but am doing the body work and paint myself in the garage. Probably shoulda thought that one through in advance

I had the same issue with getting body mount bolts out and ultimately ended up cutting in 4 access holes. Rather than weld them close, I created covers for future access. I never plan to have the body off again but who knows and it was painful enough getting them out the first time!

Good one on those access holes, if I had known how hard it was in the beginning that's what I would have started with. I ended up with drilling large round access holes for which I have found plastic caps. same idea as your access covers.

Little job I could do at home on the workbench: replace the ballpoints on the steering knuckles.

Pressed the old ones out with relative ease, the right tools do the job! Took the occasion to clean them up and paint them with undercarriage epoxy paint.

After that, new joints! Love adding new parts!!

Question; since I’m increasing power, I obviously replace everything that is related to bearings and brakes.

I have all hydroboost parts so that’s solved. Do any of you have tips on easy to obtain front brake upgrades that still fit inside the original wheels?

You can bolt on GM JD2 calipers from a 3/4 ton chevy pickup, they are a great upgrade. between those and good carbon fiber/ceramic pads you'll be good with hydroboost, it will stop well and fade should not be an issue unless your road racing it LOL

Santa came early!

Very cool, connected a battery, fuel pum in the jerrycan and boom! A running hemi.
Now hope that the engine mounts come in fast!

No further fotoworthy news other than me messing with the drumbrakes (I hate these things!) & the bodyshop still straightening doors and hood:





Don’t worry about the bondo, almost everything is sanded off to show highs and lows remaining on the metal.
Next is layer of epoxy, then sanding, then primer, color, clearcoat.

Hey guys, small update:

Chassis as good as done: new brakes and bearings are in ( mind that I have to order stuff in the USA more often than not and most of it takes 4 weeks to get here, plus the shipping and import duties are hefty!)
Next step is brake and fuel lines, in tank fuel pump and then the engine mounts!

Body: been working in the body shop myself for a bit the past 2 weeks for a day.

All bolt on items like doors and fenders are done:





And I am very pleased with the result. The color is exactly what I wanted, almost black in low light, and a deep classic blue in bright light.

Next step is the body: underside in satin black over a special undercoat that goes over the epoxy to keep it from stone chipping. Then the rest like the doors you see above. Engine bay will be satin black as well ( don’t like shiny engine bays, it’s a Jeep that will be driven, not a garage princess)




So the next weeks we will be working on the body getting blue and in about 3 weeks we will marry up the body to the frame again!

I went with a set of dual piston wilwood calipers on my build. Part number is at the bottom of the last page on my build thread and they are a direct bolt in replacement for your OE calipers.

I also have a picture of how they look mounted about mid way down on the second page of the thread. They have a few color options, including the ever popular red. You can buy just the calipers or get a kit with pads and all HW. Rotors are EBC from BJs.

I too am going with hydroboost set up. The extra piston, good rotors and high quality pads and hyrdrobooost should provide more than enough stopping power. I landed on a Gen 5 LT engine. Still waiting for all the electronics on the t-case to get worked out and can't wait to get it from the tuner. No clue when that will be though. Soon I hope.

Thanks Matt, that looks great, I have messaged them about points of sale in Europe (spend too much on shipping and import duties already) for now I have a set of new calipers and pads, so I'll see how that feels first. if not enough this is something I'll be upgrading for sure.

I'm loving this build.

These are good days!
We got the bottom of the body cleaned, tough job as we do not have a rotisserie so it had to be done on the lift.
We then sealed it with epoxy, and finished with a 2 layer underbody coating and paint.

I’m very pleased with the result,
The engine has been test fitted with the old sagged body bushings, and the gearbox had 1/2” of clearance at the tightest spot. The new poly bushings are almost 1/2” taller than what I took out so clearance should be fine with no cutting!

The hole of the low range selector has been welded shut, I will convert to a push/pull cable system for the transfer case, or look for a servo driven model if I feel adventurous.

Next step, work really hard in the sparse free time I have to get the frame and axles ready to roll them under the body and marry them back together!

So the last couple of days I took some time off to get the chassis finished.



Got all new bearings, brakes, cables and brake lines installed.
Then I Installed the new fuel pickup and electric in tank pump in the cleaned original fuel tank, wired it all up, and finished all the small bits that are really annoying when the body is on the car.


The fuel lines that are hanging here will be mounted in a couple of custom brackets, the fuel filter mounted high under the chassis cross member and the regulator that you see in front is mounted to the fuel tank skid plate

Then it was party time! Friday afternoon, and what is better than finishing the day with putting the body back on the frame?
I have all new bodymounts, and bolts, we greased all the co tact points with this stuff:

All the hollow spaces will also be sprayed with it so rust will not be back soon.



So after some aligning and carefully dropping it cm by cm, it’s looking a bit like a car again!
